We’re looking for a Senior ICT Governance Advisor – Risk & Compliance to join our team and bring energy and expertise to all things ICT governance, risk and compliance.

In this role, you’ll help shape and strengthen our governance landscape, improving policies, processes and controls while supporting and evolving our Information Security Management System (ISMS). You’ll play a key part in managing security risks and ensuring we stay aligned with leading industry standards.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to strengthen risk management practices, embed controls, and enhance Council’s governance maturity and security posture.

Position: Senior ICT Governance Advisor – Risk & Compliance,

Salary from: Permanent Full Time, Level 6.1 $108,354.51 per annum + Superannuation

Location: 150 Wembley Road, Logan Central QLD 4114.

Position Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee management of risks across Information Security and Branch Operational Risk Registers and control libraries
  • Provide timely insights to governance groups to support risk-informed decision-making and prioritisation
  • Support control owners in designing and implementing controls to protect Council’s information and systems
  • Conduct risk assessments on applications and systems to ensure appropriate security controls are in place
  • Ensure ICT governance standards align with ISO standards and PCI-DSS requirements
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to embed risk controls into operational processes
  • Provide expert advice on ICT governance, risk, policies and standards
  • Engage across the IT project lifecycle to support governance and compliance outcomes
  • Drive continuous improvement in ISMS and governance practices
  • Build strong relationships and influence best practice across ICT and the broader organisation

Key indicators for success:

  • Demonstrated experience in ICT Governance, Risk and Compliance frameworks and methodologies
  • Proven experience conducting risk assessments in IT or corporate environments
  • Strong knowledge of ISO27001 and information security principles
  • Experience in developing policies, standards and governance documentation
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, including facilitation and consensus-building
  • Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic and changing environment
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, including reporting to senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work autonomously while supporting team outcomes
