Title: Agile Coach

Location: Remote

Duration: 6 months with high possibility of extension

Role Purpose

The role is a combination of Agile Coach and RTE (Release Train Engineer). The person should not only coach teams but also step into delivery roles when needed to demonstrate best practices and mentor others through hands on execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work across multiple portfolios (about 4 to 6), each currently following different delivery models.
  • Help establish a common delivery model across portfolios while allowing necessary differences based on business, domain, technical requirements, and team structures.
  • Operate across portfolio, program, and team levels.
  • Engage effectively with executives and stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
  • Lead by example rather than only providing coaching.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Strong experience in enterprise Agile transformation, not just coaching individual teams.
  • Practical and pragmatic rather than strictly following Agile or SAFe frameworks.
  • Comfortable adapting frameworks to organizational needs.
  • Able to challenge existing practices with well reasoned arguments instead of simply quoting Agile guidelines.
  • Hands on experience performing delivery roles in addition to coaching.
  • Capable of explaining and defending recommendations at the executive level while remaining flexible.

Transformation Context

  • The organization is already on its Agile transformation journey.
  • They are not looking for someone to introduce textbook Agile or radically change existing practices.
  • Some deviations from SAFe are intentional.
  • The expectation is to improve operational habits and maturity while respecting organizational context.

Previous Experience with Agile Coaches

  • Earlier Agile coaches focused mainly on advising and coaching.
  • That approach did not fit the organization's current transformation needs.
  • The organization now wants someone who can coach and execute operationally.

Team Scope

  • Each portfolio contains approximately 15 to 20 teams.
  • Coaching is expected at multiple organizational levels, including executives.
