Acutis is seeking motivated and enthusiastic interns to join our clinical toxicology laboratory team. The unpaid eight-week internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in toxicology diagnostics, specifically focusing on urine and oral fluids analyzed by LC-MS/MS instruments. Interns will be trained through a structured program that includes orientation, shadowing experienced technologists, and hands-on practice with laboratory techniques (non-complex duties without handling any patient samples). Interns may have the opportunity to apply for a NYS Restricted License in Toxicology Diagnostics. Responsibilities:
- Participate in an orientation program that includes laboratory tours, safety protocols, and administrative tasks.
- Shadow laboratory technologists to understand the workflow of toxicology testing and processing.
- Training overview on how to accessioning samples.
- Learn about various laboratory techniques, including sample processing, data analysis, review and interpretation of chromatographic data according to established procedures.
- Review and understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to laboratory technical operations, quality control, instrument maintenance.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to gain knowledge on compliance with quality assurance standards and protocols.
- Undergo assessments to track progress.
- Deliver a final presentation. Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Toxicology, or other closely related field
- Strong interest in toxicology diagnostics and laboratory work.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of laboratory safety protocols.
