Crown Industrial Services is seeking a motivated and experienced Production Supervisor – 2nd Shift to lead our Metal Finishing Department. This role is responsible for ensuring the production of high-quality finished products, achieving daily production goals, and maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment.

The Production Supervisor will oversee all finishing operations during the assigned shift, troubleshoot process and equipment issues, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This is a stand-alone supervisory position, serving as the primary key holder and leader on the shift.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations Management

  • Supervise and direct daily metal finishing operations during the 2nd shift.
  • Schedule and assign work to team members to meet production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
  • Monitor workflow, staffing, and productivity to ensure daily output targets are achieved.
  • Troubleshoot operational challenges and implement corrective actions to minimize disruptions.

Quality Assurance

  • Partner with the Quality team to investigate and resolve quality issues.
  • Conduct inspections and verify compliance with customer specifications and internal quality standards.
  • Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the department.

Equipment & Maintenance

  • Perform routine inspections of finishing equipment and work with Maintenance to address issues promptly.
  • Assist in identifying improvement opportunities that enhance equipment reliability and production efficiency.
  • Support preventative maintenance initiatives to minimize downtime.

Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Enforce company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and environmental regulations.
  • Lead safety initiatives and ensure employees follow established procedures and protocols.
  • Coordinate and participate in plant evacuation, shelter-in-place, and emergency response drills.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment for all team members.

Training & Employee Development

  • Train and mentor employees on equipment operation, process parameters, inspection techniques, and safety procedures.
  • Provide regular coaching, performance feedback, and employee development support.
  • Foster teamwork, accountability, and positive employee engagement.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate production records, quality documentation, inspection reports, and shift summaries.
  • Track key performance indicators related to production, quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Communicate shift performance and operational concerns to management.

Facility Security & Reliability

  • Serve as the sole supervisor and key holder during the shift.
  • Ensure the facility is properly secured at the end of each shift.
  • Demonstrate dependability, sound judgment, and the ability to make independent decisions.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
  • Proven experience leading teams and achieving production goals.

Technical Skills

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and plant management/software systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Experience using precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Knowledge of process control and continuous improvement practices.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical, vocational, or manufacturing-related training preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in metal finishing, surface treatment, or related manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and environmental compliance requirements.
