Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Senior Accounting Manager will be responsible for leading the accounting and financial reporting activities for the US Industrial Spice business. This role ensures the integrity of financial results through accurate accounting, strong internal controls, compliance with IFRS and company policies, and effective coordination of the month-end close and reporting processes across multiple profit centers. As a key member of the Finance organization, the Senior Accounting Manager partners closely with U.S. and global stakeholders across Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement, Internal Audit, Shared Services, and Corporate Accounting to deliver timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting. This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to navigate a complex global environment.

Given the company's global footprint, this position requires regular collaboration with colleagues across multiple regions and time zones. Flexibility to participate in occasional early morning or evening meetings is expected to support global projects, audits, reporting deadlines, and business initiatives.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead all month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for the U.S. Industrial Spice Business and ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages.
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and reserve calculations.
  • Analyze financial results and provide explanations for significant variances.
  • Partner with business and finance leaders to ensure complete and accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee the integrity of the general ledger and underlying accounting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, corporate accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor accounting for inventory, fixed assets, leases, and other key business transactions.
  • Manage tax compliance activities including property, sales and use, transfer pricing, and other related requirements.
  • Support implementation of new accounting standards and policy updates.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit activities and address audit findings.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements and financial control standards.
  • Support global reporting requirements, statutory compliance needs, and corporate finance initiatives.
  • Participate in cross-functional and cross-regional projects focusing on process improvement and standardization.
  • Coordinate with global shared service centers and centers of excellence to ensure service quality and compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve accounting processes.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Support ERP upgrades, system implementations, and process transformation projects.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related major is required, with Finance or Accounting emphasis preferred. CPA strongly preferred.
  • Six (6) years of accounting experience is required, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) accounting software and Business Intelligence software. SAP experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks accurately and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be comfortable in a hands-on finance role with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a matrix environment.
  • Limited domestic and occasional international travel may be required.

The pay for this role in the state of CA ranges from $108,000 - $144,000 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on candidate’s experience, qualifications and/or other determining factors.
