Project Manager I
Location: Spring, TX (Preferred) or La Barge, WY
Duration: 12+ Months (Potential for Extension)
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Travel: Quarterly travel to La Barge, WY if based in Spring, TX
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support Global Projects – Project Development Division (Brownfield Projects). This role is responsible for leading cross-functional project teams through the Front-End Loading (FEL2) phase of capital projects ranging from $10M to $50M at the La Barge production facility in Wyoming.
The successful candidate will lead project development activities from concept selection through Gate reviews, ensuring alignment across Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Contractors, and other key stakeholders while driving project performance in safety, quality, cost, and schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams with overall accountability for project safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance.
- Manage capital projects through the FEL2 stage while supporting project progression into FEL3.
- Develop project execution strategies, schedules, and key Gate milestones to achieve project objectives.
- Coordinate and facilitate Gate reviews and ensure required deliverables are completed on time and to the expected quality.
- Establish, develop, and maintain project scope, objectives, and execution plans.
- Drive concept selection, project optimization, and value improvement initiatives.
- Partner with Technical Leads and functional teams to identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Develop and maintain Project Road Maps and Project Organization Plans.
- Ensure alignment among Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Construction, and other stakeholders throughout project development.
- Monitor and steward pre-FEED and FEED contractor performance against project plans and specifications.
- Manage project development budgets, schedules, technical reviews, and project documentation.
- Provide regular project updates and communicate project status, risks, and key decisions to stakeholders and leadership.
- Support collaboration across geographically dispersed teams and maintain strong relationships with the La Barge operating site.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience managing industrial capital projects through FEL2 and FEL3 project development phases.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional project teams.
- Experience managing engineering contractors and project deliverables during project development.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, including planning, scheduling, project controls, cost management, and risk management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while working across various organizations and disciplines.
- Ability to travel periodically to the La Barge, Wyoming facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience supporting brownfield oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, refinery, or gas processing projects.
- Experience with industrial control systems projects.
- Familiarity with Stage Gate project delivery methodologies.
- Experience managing geographically dispersed or remote project teams.
