Senior Business Process Engineer

Location: Houston, TX

Organization: NOV Rig Technologies – Operational Excellence

Reports to: Director, Continuous Improvement (aligned under VP, Process Excellence & Analytics)

About The Role

NOV Rig Technologies is seeking a senior-level Business Process Engineer to lead high-impact, cross-functional process improvement and transformation initiatives across equipment manufacturing and aftermarket operations. This role is ideal for an experienced Industrial/Systems Engineer who can connect end-to-end process design with measurable business outcomes (cost, lead time, quality, working capital) and influence leaders across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Digital/IT.

You will help shape the Process Excellence roadmap, lead complex deep dives, build business cases, and drive implementation with sustained adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives with measurable impact on cost, lead time, quality, productivity, and working capital.
  • Map and redesign end-to-end processes across functions (Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance), clarifying ownership, controls, governance, and KPIs.
  • Define future-state workflows, requirements, and standard work; support change management, adoption, and sustainment.
  • Apply data-driven problem solving (process mining, KPI dashboards, statistical analysis, experimentation, simulations/OR where applicable) to identify opportunities and validate impact.
  • Partner with functional leaders and SMEs to remove barriers, align priorities, and drive implementation through influence (not authority).
  • Support standardization initiatives across sites and product lines; promote best-practice sharing and replication.
  • Develop and maintain executive-ready reporting: performance insights, opportunity pipeline, project ROI, and benefits tracking.

Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum experience (one of the following):
  • 7+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with a Master’s or PhD.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering quantifiable improvement results (e.g., cost reduction, lead time reduction, throughput improvement, working capital improvement).
  • Strong analytical toolkit: statistics, data analysis, and structured problem solving.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to facilitate working sessions and present to leadership.
  • Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and manufacturing/operations improvement methodologies (e.g., QRM, TOC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (M.S./PhD) in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience in discrete manufacturing and/or aftermarket/service operations.
  • Experience working with ERP and operational data and translating process needs into system/data requirements.
  • Exposure to process mining tools, workflow automation, or digital transformation initiatives.
