Description

Robotics Software Engineer (m/f/d)

Stuttgart| Full-time

Robots are only as capable as the software that drives them.

We're looking for a Robotics Software Engineer to help develop the systems that allow robots to perceive, navigate, interact and operate in complex real-world environments.

You'll join a multidisciplinary team working across robotics, AI, automation and software engineering to build intelligent robotic solutions from concept through deployment. Whether it's autonomous navigation, motion planning, sensor integration or robot control, you'll play a key role in developing software that directly impacts how robots perform in the field.

What you'll be doing

• Design, develop and maintain software for advanced robotic systems

• Develop and optimise ROS 2-based applications and distributed robotic architectures

• Integrate sensors, actuators and hardware components into robotic platforms

• Work on areas such as navigation, perception, localisation, control and autonomy

• Collaborate with hardware, automation and systems engineering teams throughout development

• Debug, test and validate software in both simulation and real-world environments

• Contribute to system performance, reliability and scalability improvements

• Support deployment and commissioning activities as robotic platforms move into production

What we're looking for

• Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline

• Strong software development experience using C++ and/or Python

• Experience with ROS or ROS 2

• Understanding of robotic systems and software architecture principles

• Experience integrating hardware, sensors and communication interfaces

• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for developing real-world technology

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomous systems, mobile robotics or industrial robotics

• Knowledge of perception, computer vision or sensor fusion

• Experience with motion planning, SLAM or navigation systems

• Familiarity with simulation tools such as Gazebo, Isaac Sim or Webots

• Experience working with Linux-based development environment

Why join?

This is an opportunity to work on technology that exists beyond prototypes and research papers. You'll contribute to robotic systems that interact with the physical world, solve complex engineering challenges and push the boundaries of what autonomous machines can do.

The role offers technical ownership, exposure to cutting-edge robotics projects and the chance to work alongside engineers who are passionate about building intelligent systems that have a real-world impact.

If you're excited by robotics, autonomy and developing software that brings machines to life, we'd love to hear from you.
