What does a successful Vice President, Product Management and Delivery do?

The Vice President, Product Management and Delivery – Digital Payments Platforms is a senior India-based leader in the global payments’ product organization. This role leads India-based Product Managers and Product Owners across Consumer and Treasury Payments, ensuring teams are aligned to global strategy, client priorities, product roadmaps, and delivery outcomes.

This is a founding leadership role — the VP will build and scale a new product management function in Pune from the ground up. The leader will serve as a visible statesperson for global Product and Delivery teams in India, connecting teams to business context, clients, markets, and strategic priorities.

The role provides matrix product leadership for payments Product Delivery work in India and serves as the APAC-facing product leader, ensuring regional client needs are represented in global roadmap decisions. A core focus is applying AI natively across the product development lifecycle and within payments products to improve speed, quality, customer experience, and decision-making.

What You'll Do

Product Strategy & India Leadership

  • Lead India-based Product Managers and Product Owners across Consumer and Treasury Payments, building strong product discipline and execution quality
  • Translate global payments strategy, client priorities, and market needs into clear product direction for India-based teams
  • Build and scale a new product management team — define org structure, hiring roadmap, role profiles, and career pathways
  • Serve as the APAC-facing product leader, ensuring Asia-Pacific client needs influence global roadmap and prioritization decisions

Product Delivery & Value Ownership

  • Provide matrix product oversight for Product Delivery work in India across Consumer and Treasury Payments
  • Align Product, Technology, and Delivery teams to roadmap priorities, backlog health, dependencies, risks, and measurable outcomes
  • Prioritize work based on business value, client impact, regulatory needs, and strategic relevance
  • Drive predictable, high-quality delivery across India-led and India-supported workstreams with clear OKRs and delivery governance
  • Influence product P&L outcomes through strategic prioritization and value-driven roadmap execution

AI-Native Product Development

  • Partner with Technology to embed AI natively across discovery, design, prioritization, testing, delivery, and operations
  • Drive AI-enabled payments capabilities across automation, decisioning, fraud detection, personalization, and customer experience
  • Champion the use of Generative AI, Agentic AI, and Machine Learning in product management workflows — including AI-assisted backlog grooming, requirements generation, and release intelligence
  • Drive an AI-first product mindset across teams — establishing AI literacy, experimentation rituals, and responsible AI governance

Risk, Controls & Regulatory Alignment

  • Ensure risk-by-design and compliance-by-design across payments platforms
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Audit to meet regulatory, control, and governance expectations
  • Embed responsible AI governance — ensuring explainability, bias mitigation, and model auditability

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coach and develop India-based Product Managers and Product Owners across the payments portfolio
  • Serve as the senior product voice in India — translating global business context and executive priorities for local teams
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior Product, Technology, Delivery, and business leaders on India-based product execution
  • Represent the global payments product organization in India as a visible leader, evangelizer, and connector across geographies

What You Will Need To Have

  • 15+ years in product management, platform leadership, or business-technology leadership within payments, financial services, or fintech
  • Experience building and scaling product teams — preferably in a founding/zero-to-one context
  • Strong understanding of digital payments ecosystems — real-time payments, card networks, ACH, cross-border, treasury, and merchant payments
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML in product development — including application of Generative AI, predictive models, or intelligent automation
  • Proven ability to operate in a global matrix organization — influencing without direct authority and driving alignment across geographies
  • Strong executive presence, influence, and ability to rally distributed teams around a shared product vision
  • Experience with APAC payment markets, regulations, or client engagements
  • Excellent communication skills — ability to articulate complex strategy simply and present to C-suite audiences

What Would Be Great To Have

  • Experience at leading payments/fintech companies, GCCs, or global technology firms with India development centers
  • Familiarity with AI governance, responsible AI, and MLOps practices
  • Background in both B2B and B2C payment products
  • Experience working with platform engineering teams on API-first, cloud-native, and microservices architectures
  • MBA or advanced degree from a reputed institution
  • Certifications in Product Management (CPO, CSPO) or AI/ML (Stanford AI, AWS ML Specialty) are a plus
