eNGINE is seeking a a skilled Java Developer to join our engineering team and help design, build, and maintain scalable microservices using Spring Boot. You'll work across the stack, contributing to backend services as well as collaborating on React-based front-end features, while working with SQL databases to design efficient data models and queries.
What You'll Do:
- Design, develop, and maintain RESTful microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build and consume APIs that power responsive, modern web applications
- Collaborate with front-end developers on React components and integrations
- Design and optimize SQL database schemas, queries, and stored procedures
- Participate in architecture discussions for distributed, microservices-based systems
- Write clean, testable, well-documented code following best practices
- Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues across services
- Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers as needed
- Collaborate with DevOps/QA teams to support CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
- Contribute to technical design docs and participate in Agile/Scrum ceremoniees
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional experience with Java
- Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot and the broader Spring ecosystem (Spring Data, Spring Security, Spring Cloud)
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture — service decomposition, inter-service communication, API design (REST/JSON)
- Experience with SQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) — schema design, query optimization, indexing
- Working knowledge of React and modern JavaScript (ES6+) for front-end collaboration
- Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD tools
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) is a plus
- Understanding of message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ) is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Nice to Have:
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Familiarity with API gateways, service discovery, and distributed tracing tools
- Exposure to Test-Driven Development (TDD) and unit/integration testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito)
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
