About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
The Manager, Risk & Insurance (HR Title: Insurance Risk Specialist II) reports to the Director of Risk Management & Insurance and is responsible for managing the Workers’ Compensation Program, Auto/SCUV Program, and the Certificates of Insurance Program, as well as maintaining the RMIS system. This role ensures that claims intake and processing practices align with compliance requirements and support the institution’s overall risk management objectives.
Essential Functions:
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
A minimum of three (3) years of work experience in workers' compensation, auto, property, and general liability claims management is required. Experience with insurance policy management and basic tracking of claims and finances is also required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and be able to work effectively with a wide range of people at varying levels of skill and authority. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills. Strong presentation skills are essential.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and analyze problems and devise solutions. Candidate must also have strong organizational, planning, and time management skills. The ability to multitask, manage, and prioritize day-to-day tasks while utilizing strong project management skills is essential.
Candidate must be able to identify and provide appropriate metrics and reports as needed, and maintain accurate, complete records that support compliance requirements.
Candidate must a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint for presentations and training. Candidate must be able to provide informative and compelling presentations. Experience with a Risk Management Information System is required.
The ability to learn policies and claims processes in a fast-paced environment is required. A positive attitude and a servant mindset are also required. A strong understanding of compliance is preferred. Interest in higher education is desired.
Workers' Compensation Adjuster License, ARM, AIC, or related certifications are preferred.
