Production & Customer Planner

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a Production & Customer Planner to coordinate production schedules, manage customer orders, and ensure materials and inventory are aligned to support on-time delivery across two manufacturing facilities. This position serves as the communication hub between customers, production, purchasing, warehouse, and quality to keep operations running efficiently while providing excellent customer service.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where priorities can change quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules based on customer demand, inventory levels, and production capacity.
  • Coordinate production priorities with manufacturing teams to ensure on-time customer deliveries.
  • Monitor raw material availability, open purchase orders, and supplier deliveries while proactively identifying shortages.
  • Process customer purchase orders, forecasts, and EDI transactions while serving as the primary point of contact for order status updates.
  • Monitor inventory levels and align production plans with customer demand and material availability.
  • Work closely with Production, Purchasing, Warehouse, Quality, and Customer Service to resolve scheduling conflicts and delivery issues.
  • Maintain accurate planning information within the ERP/MRP system.
  • Analyze production constraints and recommend solutions to improve scheduling, inventory accuracy, and customer service.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within planning, scheduling, and order fulfillment processes.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, supply chain, customer service, or materials planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with production scheduling and inventory management.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience processing customer orders and coordinating deliveries.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Manufacturing environment.
  • ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Plex, IQMS, or similar.
  • EDI transactions and customer forecasting.
  • Production scheduling across multiple manufacturing departments or facilities.
  • Inventory control and materials planning.
