Our client has an opportunity for a Senior Android Software Engineer to join a Video Player team responsible for developing and maintaining Android video playback technologies, including ownership of a Video Player SDK. This engineer will improve streaming performance, playback reliability, scalability, and long-term maintainability across consumer-facing digital products.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain an Android Video Player SDK.
- Build scalable architecture for video playback solutions.
- Implement and optimize streaming, buffering, DRM, offline playback, and performance-related features.
- Partner with Engineering, QA, and Operations teams to diagnose and resolve playback issues.
- Write clean, maintainable, high-performance code.
- Participate in code reviews and technical documentation.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams.
- Contribute to long-term platform and architectural planning.
Experience Requirements
- 3+ years of professional Android development experience.
- Strong Kotlin and/or Java expertise.
- Experience building production-grade Android applications and SDKs.
- Hands-on experience with Media3 and/or ExoPlayer.
- Experience with DASH and/or HLS streaming and Widevine DRM.
- Understanding of video playback architecture, adaptive bitrate streaming, buffering and performance optimization, device-specific playback behavior, and streaming protocols.
- Experience developing reusable SDKs or platform components and contributing to Android architecture and technical design.
- Experience with scalable streaming or media platform solutions.
- Ability to participate in architectural discussions, provide technical input, and demonstrate strong ownership.
- Background in OTT, streaming, media, sports, entertainment, or video-centric platforms is preferred.
- Experience troubleshooting playback issues across the video delivery pipeline and familiarity with playback analytics and QoE metrics.
- Nice to have: Roku development, iOS or cross-platform media experience, video advertising integrations (IMA SDK, VAST, VMAP), playback analytics and instrumentation, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and additional streaming platform experience.
Education Requirements
