Role Purpose
ABN AMRO Clearing is a leading global provider of clearing and clearing‑related services, supporting professional market participants across major financial centres.
The Securities Finance team is responsible for securities borrowing and lending activities on behalf of clients and the firm, ensuring settlement certainty, cost efficiency and disciplined risk management.
As a Junior Securities Finance Trader, you will support core desk activities while developing the technical, commercial and risk capabilities required for long‑term progression within Securities Finance.

Key Responsibilities
1. Trading & Core Desk Responsibilities
- Execute securities borrowing and lending transactions within approved limits and mandates
- Forecast and manage internal securities inventory, external borrowing costs, fees and interest
- Maintain trading books and support daily P&L analysis and reporting
- Manage and process corporate actions, including dividends and market‑driven events
- Support day‑to‑day interaction with counterparties, clients and internal stakeholders
2. Risk Management, Controls & Governance
- Operate in strict adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and risk limits
- Maintain a strong control mindset across booking accuracy, trade lifecycle, and exception management
- Proactively escalate issues to ensure timely resolution and risk protection
3. Collateral & Settlement Interface
- Work closely with regional Operations teams to ensure accurate and timely settlement
- Manage and optimise cash and non‑cash collateral utilisation with a focus on efficiency and cost discipline
- Develop a strong understanding of trade lifecycle dependencies across clearing custody and financing
4. Process Improvement & Desk Development
- Identify opportunities to enhance processes, controls, automation and data quality
- Support onboarding of new Securities Finance counterparties
- Participate in regional and global initiatives as the desk and market environment evolve
Experience & Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
- 1–2 years’ experience in financial markets, securities services, clearing, custody, derivatives, or related areas
- Strong numerical skills and high attention to detail
- Professional approach to responsibility, controls, and teamwork
Preferred
- Exposure to Securities Finance, collateral management, or corporate actions
- Strong Excel skills (VBA); Python or data/statistical tools are an advantage
- Understanding of market infrastructure and end‑to‑end trade lifecycle
Licensing
- SFC Type 1 (Modules 1A, 6 and 6A) required
