We're partnering with a growing US software company to hire a Senior Software Engineer for their Client Applications team.
This is a fully remote role, open to candidates based anywhere in Europe. You'll be working on the core sync engine and native OS integration layer of a desktop product used across macOS and/or Windows.
What you'll be doing:
- Designing and building system-level components on macOS (Swift 5.5+) and/or Windows (modern C++)
- Working with native file system APIs to manage on-demand file access, local caching behaviour, and user-triggered actions
- Working with Windows system-level APIs and custom driver integration
- Building and maintaining services that connect system-level components to a modern application UI
- Integrating with native OS shell features such as file status indicators, context menus, and extensions
- Writing and maintaining unit and integration tests
- Debugging complex issues using standard platform tooling on macOS and/or Windows
- Contributing to build and CI/CD pipelines
What we're looking for:
- Strong commercial experience with Swift and/or modern C++ at a systems level
- Solid understanding of macOS and/or Windows internals: processes, threading, synchronization, I/O, memory, security
- Experience writing multithreaded and asynchronous code
- Good understanding of filesystem behaviour: notifications, caching, metadata, locking
- Experience with or strong interest in sync, backup, or cloud storage clients
- Experience with typed APIs and service-based architecture
- Hands-on experience with automated testing
- Strong debugging skills
- Comfortable working independently in a fully remote, distributed team
- Comfortable using AI coding assistants as part of your daily workflow
Nice to have:
- Experience across both macOS and Windows client development
- Background in cloud storage, sync clients, or security/endpoint products
- Experience with CI systems and build tooling
- Awareness of security best practices at the OS and filesystem layer
