Senior Power Automate Engineer
About the Project: This project is part of a larger ambition to transform asset management client-servicing document processing globally across all document types. The initiative aims to transition the current manual, fragmented, and time-consuming Fund Factsheet and Valuation & Transaction reporting processes into a centralised, scalable, and automated global publishing capability.
Job Scope & Responsibilities: As a Power Automate Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying automated workflows to distribute institutional client-servicing documents across 20+ countries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Workflow Automation: Design and develop automated email distribution workflows for Fund Factsheets, ensuring data integrity by sourcing directly from approved systems like SharePoint.
- End-to-End Reporting Automation: Automate the end-to-end Transaction & Valuation reporting workflow, including data ingestion, validation checks (e.g., no empty fields or invalid values), encryption, and email distribution.
- System Integration: Integrate core Microsoft components, including Office 365 Outlook for draft generation, Dataverse for configuration and role-based access, and SharePoint for document libraries and lists.
- Custom Connector Enablement: Utilise HSBC-approved custom connectors (https://*.hsbc - Pattern 2) to enable controlled calls from Power Automate to HSBC-hosted services.
- AI & Data Extraction: Utilise AI Builder to extract fund names from factsheet PDFs and clean unstructured disclaimer results. Define target extraction accuracy/confidence threshold, and fallback/manual-review path when AI Builder confidence is low or extraction fails.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with HSBC business teams to scope, define, and map requirements, including country-specific disclaimers and report frequencies, for various regional offices.
Technical Requirements & Qualifications
- Core Platform Expertise: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps Canvas App, and Microsoft Dataverse.
- Microsoft 365 Ecosystem: Deep knowledge of SharePoint List/Library management and Office 365 Outlook integration.
- API & Connector Experience: Experience configuring HTTP triggers and utilising custom enterprise connectors.
- Cloud & Scripting Integration (Strong Plus): Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Functions and Python. The long-term architecture relies on GCP to host Python scripts for appending disclaimers, managing encryption (using msoffcrypto-tool, openpyxl), and running validation logic.
- CRM Integration: Experience mapping and synchronising client information from CRM systems like Microsoft Dynamics 365 to SharePoint.
Project Roadmap: The deployment is structured as a staged global rollout to maximise the reuse of automation components:
Phase 1: Standalone Documents Automation (MVP)
- Focus on delivering a minimum viable capability to streamline the preparation and distribution of Fund Factsheets and Transaction & Valuation reports.
- Maintain manual oversight (e.g., drafting emails to an Outlook folder for manual review) while ensuring compliance controls.
Phase 2 & Future Phase: Global Solution Deployment & Staged Rollout
- Roll out the automated solution across 20+ countries and automate wholesale business documents via the AI Portal.
- Wave 1 (APAC Core Markets): Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Japan, India, Singapore, Australia.
- Wave 2 (Europe + Middle East): United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia.
- Wave 3 (Americas): United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina.
- Wave 4 (Other Markets): Additional expansion into selected African and other Latin American markets.
