This would be a 6 month secondment with a potential to extend further.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate and advise on a wide range of commercial agreements, including: Consulting agreements, Master Services Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), Professional services agreements, Vendor and procurement agreements, Confidentiality agreements (NDAs), Partnership and collaboration agreements
- Provide practical and commercially focused legal advice to business stakeholders.
- Advise on contractual obligations, dispute resolution matters, and contract interpretation issues.
- Assist with corporate governance, policy development, and regulatory compliance matters.
- Support regional projects and strategic initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.
- Manage external counsel where required.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer in Japan or common law jurisdiction.
- Approximately 5–10 years' post-qualification experience.
- Experience gained in a reputable law firm and in-house legal team.
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial and consulting agreements.
- Experience supporting consulting, professional services, technology, outsourcing, or corporate services businesses is highly desirable.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Commercially minded with a practical approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and work independently in a fast-moving environment.
