The Position: We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Architect / Senior Project Manager with deep expertise in Healthcare (HCAI/OSHPD) projects to join our growing Southern California healthcare practice.

This is a leadership opportunity for a seasoned architectural professional who excels at delivering complex hospital and healthcare facilities, mentoring project teams, and partnering directly with clients. You'll lead projects from programming through construction, providing technical oversight, quality assurance, client leadership, and strategic direction while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams.

You'll work on highly visible healthcare, acute care, hospitals, medical campuses, ambulatory care facilities, specialty clinics, behavioral health facilities, and healthcare modernization projects throughout California, with exceptional work-life balance, flexibility, and long-term advancement opportunities.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead complex HCAI/OSHPD healthcare projects through all phases of planning, design, documentation, and construction.
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural oversight across multiple healthcare projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to develop staffing plans, project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Mentor architects, designers, and technical staff while fostering professional growth throughout the studio.
  • Review construction documents for technical quality, constructability, coordination, code compliance, and HCAI requirements.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams including structural, MEP, civil, medical planning, and specialty consultants.
  • Resolve complex technical challenges involving building systems, life safety, accessibility, and healthcare regulations.
  • Lead coordination with clients, contractors, healthcare systems, HCAI reviewers, AHJs, and project stakeholders.
  • Support construction administration including RFIs, submittals, site observations, OAC meetings, and project closeout.
  • Establish technical standards, best practices, and quality control procedures across project teams.
  • Participate in client presentations, interviews, proposals, and business development initiatives.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and exceed client expectations.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of architectural experience managing complex healthcare projects.
  • Extensive HCAI (OSHPD) project experience throughout California.
  • Strong technical expertise across all phases of architectural practice.
  • Proven experience leading large multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Thorough knowledge of California Building Code, healthcare regulations, accessibility requirements, and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency in Revit and industry-standard architectural software.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and client management skills.
  • Ability to mentor technical teams while managing multiple priorities.

Preferred

  • California Licensed Architect strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading acute care hospitals, replacement hospitals, medical office buildings, behavioral health, surgery centers, and healthcare campus projects.
  • LEED Accredited Professional and/or healthcare certifications.
  • Experience with Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), Design-Build, or progressive project delivery methods.
  • Strong business development and client relationship management experience.
  • Previous experience serving in a Senior Technical Architect or Project Leadership role.
