As Community Officer, you strengthen Triple I Community by managing communication channels, boosting engagement and organizing events. You collaborate with researchers and stakeholders increasing visibility and participation.

About The Position

As a Community Officer, you play a key role in strengthening and expanding the Triple I Community (Infection Biology, Immunology & Immuno-oncology) at Utrecht Science Park. You are responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing communication and outreach activities that enhance engagement among researchers and stakeholders.

You manage and further develop communication channels such as the website, newsletter, and social media, ensuring consistent and professional visibility of the community. You also support the organization of events and stimulate active participation within the network.

You will work closely with the Community Manager, researchers, project leaders, and communication professionals across UMC Utrecht and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. This role offers ample opportunity to develop your skills and take initiative within a multidisciplinary environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a communication and dissemination strategy;
  • Manage and further develop communication channels (website, newsletter, social media);
  • Create and maintain a content calendar;
  • Develop communication materials (text and visual, such as infographics and short videos);
  • Support and organize events (e.g. meetings and conferences);
  • Facilitate community engagement and collaboration;
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Monitor and report on communication and outreach activities;
  • Aligning with other communication efforts on campus of interest to the community.

The department

You will be part of the Triple I Community, a multidisciplinary network of researchers in infection biology, immunology, and immuno-oncology across Utrecht Science Park. The chairmanship of the community is a collaboration between UMC Utrecht (Department of Hematology) and the Department of Biomolecular Health Sciences of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

You will work in a dynamic environment where collaboration, knowledge exchange, and societal impact are central. You will also interact closely with communication teams within UMC Utrecht and Utrecht University.

Your profile

You are a proactive and communicatively strong professional with an interest in science and societal impact. You are able to translate complex information into clear messages for diverse audiences and enjoy working in a dynamic environment.

You Have

  • A completed HBO or WO degree, preferably in (science) communication or life sciences;
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in communication or outreach;
  • Affinity with scientific research and stakeholder engagement;
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Dutch;
  • A proactive, flexible, and service-oriented attitude

Preferred

  • Experience in website content management systems (preferably Drupal);
  • Experience with digital design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe, InDesign).

Our offer

  • A salary between € 3897 and € 5341 gross per month (salary scale 9), based on full-time employment (36 hours).
  • 15-16 hours contract (0.4 FTE based on a 36h working week)
  • A contract for a year.
  • Year-end bonus of 8.3% and holiday allowance of 8%.
  • Pension insurance with ABP. We take care of approximately 70% of the monthly contribution.
  • 100% public transport reimbursement. Are you coming on foot, by bike or by car? You will then receive a reimbursement of € 0.18 per km (by car up to a max. of 40 km one way).
