HMSHost is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner I (Temporary - 1 Year Term) at Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to support operations within a dynamic airport-based environment. This role is responsible for executing HR policies, procedures, and people strategies as directed by the People & Culture leadership team, while partnering closely with Operations leaders to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead HR activities for an airport or cluster of locations (under 600 team members) within Food & Beverage operations
- Manage the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, development, retention, and offboarding
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Operations leaders on HR policies, employee relations, engagement, and performance matters
- Provide HR policy guidance and ensure consistent interpretation across teams
- Partner with regional leadership to analyze workforce trends and recommend strategic HR solutions
- Manage employee relations issues proactively, including investigations and documentation
- Support labour relations activities including grievances, arbitrations, and contract administration
- Ensure compliance with company policies, employment legislation, and internal standards
- Promote a positive workplace culture focused on engagement, learning, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- 5+ years of HR experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- 2–4 years in a leadership or HR generalist/HRBP capacity preferred
- Experience in hospitality, food & beverage, or retail environments preferred
- Unionized environment experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of HR functions including employee relations, recruitment, training, compensation, and benefits
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to handle confidential matters with professionalism and discretion
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR systems (HRIS)

- Requires on-site presence at assigned location(s) 5 days per week
- May require up to 50% travel
