Job Overview:
The construction planning engineer will be responsible for supporting the operations for construction planning in the home office for site execution works. They are required to have experience of AWP activities and work processes on site for execution.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the Completions Manager on discipline activity
- Coordinate with Site QA/QC Manager on final inspection and punch list, red-line drawings to show as-build conditions; perform engineering activities to develop/complete design; prepare/answer Request for Information and Field Work Order Requests
- Supervise the Site Document Management Department and ensure that project personnel adhere to correspondence and filing system guidelines
- Facilitate preparation of drawings for special construction equipment, scaffolds, workstations, and construction aids
- Arrange for procurement, fabrication, and installation of the required items
- Manage Engineering support on the site through the Project Manager at the home office
- There will be specific times that Engineering support will be required on the site to assist in acceptance or checkout
- Manage all correspondence concerning questions or issues between Engineering and Construction through a Request for Information (RFI) system for document tracking and control
- Close out all RFIs and incorporate them into the turnover systems for care and custody of the Client
- Capture progress daily in Work Face Planning software from information provided by Foremen/General Foremen
- Analyze daily progress and schedule performance
- Conduct weekly planning meetings with their Superintendents to determine work to be executed in the upcoming three weeks
- Generate weekly work plans on an IWP level with General Foremen/Superintendents’ direct input and record them in the Work Face Planning system
- Request material by submitting WRFIs by IWP to material management before the execution date and track material delivery
- Interface with the Construction Supervisor, Project Controls, and subcontractors to facilitate updates to the 3 WLA and WWP
- Record and communicate Lessons Learned captured on IWPs
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent
- 5 to years of experience in construction
- Moderate knowledge of MDR construction procedures, progress systems, material management systems, document management, and timekeeping systems
- Knowledge of MS Office skills, specifically with Excel, and Access
- Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to meet deadlines, troubleshoot, and resolve issues
