About the Role

The Accountant (US) will support core accounting operations for AVL Manufacturing’s new US division, AVL USA Inc. This role will focus on transactional accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and accurate recordkeeping. Reporting to the Accounting Manager (US), the Accountant will collaborate with local and Canadian teams to ensure timely and compliant financial operations aligned with AVL’s internal policies and US GAAP.

Responsibilities

· Assist in the completion of month-end closing procedures, including preparation and posting of journal entries, accruals and adjustments, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

· Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, and investigate variances.

· Analyze variances and provide explanations for monthly financial results.

· Assist in preparation of financial statements and management reports for both internal and external stakeholders.

· Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support.

· Monitor and enhance internal controls to ensure the accuracy of financial data.

· Assist in the development, implementation, training, and documentation of policies and procedures related to the accounting process.

· Work closely with accounts payable and accounts receivable teams to ensure all month-end transactions are processed correctly and accruals are properly recorded.

· Work with FP&A to understand and explain monthly results and variances from budget.

· Analyze project costs and profitability.

· Stay updated with changes in accounting standard and financial regulations that impact monthly and annual reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent designation is preferred).
  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a corporate or manufacturing environment.
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in a start-up or multi-location environment is a plus.
