Sales Trader – Catalyst (Middle East)
Role Overview
We are seeking a high-caliber Sales Trader, Catalyst to join our expanding team in the Middle East. This role requires a professional with a proven track record in long/short cash equity sales trading. The successful candidate will act as a pivotal bridge between our clients and the markets, driving revenue through high-touch execution, proactive trade idea generation, and strategic client relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
Market Analysis & Idea Generation
- Market Dynamics: Maintain a sophisticated, real-time understanding of market dynamics, institutional client activity, and emerging trends across global and regional equity markets.
- Alpha Generation: Proactively identify market opportunities to enhance client engagement and drive institutional revenue generation.
- Collaborative Content: Partner closely with the internal content and research teams to articulate and communicate actionable trading and investment ideas.
- Thematic Focus: Formulate and pitch trade ideas centered around thematic topics, macroeconomic developments, and corporate special situations.
Client Relationship Management & Coverage
- Client Engagement: Maintain regular, high-impact communication via calls and face-to-face meetings with existing institutional clients to ensure premium service delivery.
- Account Optimization: Monitor client business activity and trading volumes; flag and strategically discuss any significant volume shifts with both the client and internal sales desks.
- Prospecting: Identify and target prospective clients, arranging introductory calls and meetings involving internal product and sector experts to showcase the firm’s broader capabilities.
Strategic Growth & Revenue
- Target Driving: Establish and execute ambitious revenue targets and Research Payment Account (RPA) frameworks.
- Strategic Growth: Develop and implement bespoke, long-term strategic growth plans across the assigned institutional client base.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience as a Sales Trader with a deep specialization in long/short cash equity.
- Regional Knowledge: Strong understanding of Middle Eastern equity markets and regulatory landscapes, alongside global market familiarity.
- Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated track record of meeting revenue targets, managing RPAs, and growing institutional client wallets.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to confidently pitch complex thematic and macroeconomic ideas to sophisticated buy-side clients.
- Network: An existing network of institutional clients (asset managers, hedge funds, sovereign wealth funds) is highly advantageous.
