Óscala is a Dutch/Spanish supplier of nearshore software engineering services, headquartered in Haarlem (The Netherlands), with a Software Development Center located in the heart of Valencia, Spain.

We work with a growing portfolio of reputable clients across the Netherlands and neighboring countries, providing additional remote development capacity to help them build and maintain state-of-the-art software solutions, web applications, mobile apps, and other digital products.

At Óscala, each Software Developer works exclusively with one client and becomes an integral part of their development team, collaborating closely on a daily basis with Tech Leads, Architects, and other IT professionals based in the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark or Belgium.

About the Role

For a 6-month project with one of our international clients in the gaming industry, we are currently looking for a:

Senior Full Stack Developer

In this role, the successful candidate will contribute to the development and evolution of the platform that powers one of the world's most successful mobile games. Working behind the scenes, they will help build and maintain the systems that support LiveOps events, leaderboards, in-game messaging, special offers, social features, game configuration, and other core platform services used by millions of players every day.

The Full Stack Developer will work across backend services, cloud infrastructure, internal tooling, observability, and platform architecture, helping to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performing solutions while supporting both current and future projects. The role offers broad ownership, meaningful technical challenges, and the opportunity to contribute to the continuous evolution of a large-scale gaming platform that serves millions of daily users.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, balancing short-term business needs with long-term architectural improvements, and building robust systems that operate at global scale.

This assignment is for a temporarily project of approx. 6 months, with the possibility of an extension.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Full Stack or Backend Software Engineer, building and maintaining production applications.
  • Proven experience building, operating, and scaling production backend services for large-scale applications or products.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, API design, data modeling, and the trade-offs involved in building reliable and scalable platform services.
  • Experience working with cloud-native infrastructure, containers, orchestration platforms, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Experience with technologies such as Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is highly valued, although equivalent experience with similar technologies is also welcomed.
  • Strong operational mindset, with hands-on experience in monitoring, observability, incident response, and production support.
  • Solid Full Stack development experience, building scalable backend services and intuitive web applications. Experience with Go (Golang) is highly valued, while experience with other backend technologies such as C#, Python, Rust, or Node.js is also considered. On the frontend, experience with React and TypeScript is highly desirable.
  • Ability to design, document, communicate, and implement technical solutions while collaborating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, including tools such as Jenkins and automated release workflows.
  • Experience supporting LiveOps or live-service products, particularly within the mobile gaming industry.
