Accounting Manager — Controller Track

PAM.ai

PAM is the AI customer experience platform for car dealerships — powering inbound and outbound voice, text, email, and chat for sales, service, and parts. Hundreds of dealerships use PAM to capture every call and grow revenue without growing headcount. Backed by Autotech Ventures, we're scaling fast into 2026 with a clear path to Series B.

This is not a senior accountant role. We're hiring our first dedicated Accounting Manager — someone who has run a close end-to-end, owned ASC 606 revenue recognition, managed external partners, and driven cross-functional projects to a deadline. You'll inherit a function run by a fractional CFO and outsourced bookkeeping firm, fix what's broken, and build the systems that let it scale. Direct line to the CEO and CFO. Meaningful equity. Clear path to Controller.

What success looks like

  • 30 days: Map order-to-cash end-to-end, document a 15-day close calendar, stabilize AR collections above 90%.
  • 90 days: Redesign order-to-cash (Stripe → QuickBooks), close the books on a 10-day cycle, own audit prep.
  • 12 months: Document policies for scale, evaluate systems upgrades (NetSuite), run the function with limited day-to-day CFO involvement heading into Series B.

What you'll own

  • Monthly close, financial package, and chart of accounts
  • Order-to-cash redesign and Stripe/QuickBooks reconciliation
  • ASC 606 revenue recognition for multi-element SaaS contracts
  • ASC 718 stock comp and equity ledger (reconciled to Carta)
  • AR/AP, collections, and cash disbursement controls
  • Audit prep and Series A/B investor diligence support
  • Accounting tech stack and integrations (QuickBooks, Stripe, Rippling, HubSpot, Carta)

What you need

  • 7+ years progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years at a SaaS/recurring-revenue company
  • Prior experience as an Accounting Manager (or equivalent) running a close end-to-end — not just contributing to one
  • Hands-on ASC 606 expertise — performance obligations, transaction price allocation, recognition timing
  • Track record owning projects to completion: order-to-cash redesigns, system migrations, audit prep
  • Experience managing external partners (outsourced bookkeeping firms, auditors, advisors)
  • Strong Excel skills — deferred revenue waterfalls, multi-period reconciliations
  • DC metro area or willing to relocate

Strongly preferred: CPA; prior Series A/B diligence experience; audit/review ownership through completion; NetSuite implementation experience; auto retail or dealer software background.

Why PAM: Real ownership from day one — you're not an analyst, you are the function. Meaningful equity in a fast-growing company with a defensible market. Direct visibility with the CEO and CFO. Clear growth path to Controller as we scale toward Series B.
