About The Role
We are seeking a talented Software Developer to join our remote team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, and deploying software solutions across all stages of the development lifecycle. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently on moderately complex projects while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. You will contribute to technical decision-making, mentor junior developers, and ensure that all software components meet industry standards and company requirements. The position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing multiple programming languages, databases, APIs, and cloud platforms to deliver innovative solutions that support FedEx Freight’s operational needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, or information systems
- Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in information technology or engineering
- Strong programming skills across multiple languages
- Proven debugging and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with software development best practices, including version control and unit testing
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Reside within 50 miles of a FedEx Freight location within the continental US
Preferred Skills & Knowledge
- Hands-on experience with Salesforce development, including customization and configuration
- Proficiency in Java for backend development, business logic, and system integrations
- Experience building responsive interfaces using React or Angular
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS, including deployment and monitoring
- Experience in API development, designing, building, and consuming RESTful services
- Understanding of integration patterns and connecting Salesforce with external systems
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and contributing to sprint planning and delivery
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Willingness to learn new technologies and grow technical expertise
Responsibilities
- Design and develop software code using multiple programming languages to meet project requirements
- Test and validate newly developed software to ensure functionality and quality standards
- Document code and technical processes according to company policies
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, managers, vendors, and stakeholders to gather requirements and provide updates
- Evaluate code for industry standards compliance and hardware/software compatibility
- Mentor junior developers and participate in code reviews to promote best practices
- Ensure all development activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
- Perform additional duties as assigned, contributing to team success and project delivery
