The Human Resources Manager serves as a strategic business partner to Plant Leadership, supporting organizational growth through a comprehensive talent development strategy while safeguarding both company and employee interests.This role fosters a culture of accountability and pride grounded in transparent communication, fairness, consistency, and firm adherence to organizational principles and business objectives. As a key member of the Plant Leadership Team, the HR Manager helps establish the site as a benchmark for attracting, developing, and retaining high-caliber talent aligned with ALPLA’s culture of excellence.

The HR Manager is responsible for delivering comprehensive HR leadership that strengthens organizational capability, enhances employee engagement, and ensures full compliance with company policies and employment regulations. This position oversees talent acquisition, employee relations, training and development, performance management, HR systems, and workforce planning to build and sustain a high-performance culture.

What You Will Enjoy Doing

Performs Human Resources duties at a professional level and carries out responsibilities in partnership with Plant Manager to develop employee capabilities and improve communications and the performance of the plant operation.

Recruiting/Staffing

  • Conducts recruitment effort for exempt and nonexempt personnel; conducts new-employee orientations; writes and places advertisements
  • Coordinates all employment testing and background checks
  • Prepares all required employment documentation

Employee Maintenance

  • Maintains personnel files in compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
  • Administers compensation program
  • Leads performance review and merit review processes to ensure consistency and appropriate rigor for talent calibration and succession planning
  • Maintains and updates HR and timekeeping system
  • Submits accurate information to Payroll

Employee Relations

  • Coaches and trains managers to properly apply human resources policies and procedures, laws, standards and government regulations
  • Responds to employee relations issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights complaints
  • Coordinates employee activities to ensure that all programs comply with company guidelines

Employment Policies

  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars
  • Maintains company organization charts and employee directory
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed

Terminations

  • Processes terminations
  • Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement
  • Represents the company for any unemployment claims

Safety

  • Participates and supports management with safety program to evaluate effectiveness of safety processes
  • Conducts continuous safety training

Training

  • Develops and administers onsite training programs to assure maximum effectiveness of staff
  • Manages training; identifies training needs, supports organizing training, ensures that training is performed, maintains training files
  • Coordinates external trainings with employees, supervisors and management

What Makes You Great

  • 2 year Degree (Associates) in related field or equivalent
  • 5 years of experience preferred
  • Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations and employment law
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and behave in a professional manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with superiors, co-workers, and individuals inside and outside the Company
  • Substantial knowledge of employment practices, laws and regulations
  • Good computer skills
