About MDC Art
MDC Art, part of the MDC Interior Solutions family of products and services, develops custom art programs for commercial environments, working directly with interior designers and their clients to create impactful art-inspired spaces. We collaborate with a diverse clientele across corporate, education, healthcare, hospitality, multifamily, and senior living markets to create impactful art-inspired environments.
Role Overview
The Art Consultant leads the creative arc of MDC Art projects from initial discovery through final client approval. Working directly with interior designers, clients, and internal partners, this role develops and presents tailored art programs that align design vision with project requirements, budget, and sector-specific considerations.
Key Responsibilities
- Discovery & Project Kickoff: Lead project discovery and the client kickoff call — gather project requirements, understand the client’s design narrative, install timing, budget parameters, and any sector-specific considerations.
- Concept Development: Develop initial Art Concept Packages aligned with the client’s design intent, sector standards, and budget; refine through iterative client review.
- Art Curation: Curate artwork recommendations across mediums — original works, photography, prints, custom fabrication, and architecturally integrated pieces — informed by design intent, sector standards, and contemporary trends.
- Art Proposal: Develop, present, and refine the Art Proposal with clients; deliver the final Art Proposal and Client Visual Guide reflecting approved selections.
- Creative Direction: Define the creative requirements that guide operational scoping — aesthetic intent, materials, finishes, and design considerations — partnering with the Art Project Manager & Team Lead to translate creative direction into vendor-ready specifications.
- Sample Review: Provide creative review of samples requiring substantive design judgment, with a one-business-day turnaround on direct-to-art reviews and flexibility for high-volume situations.
- Sector Expertise: Apply working knowledge of commercial sector requirements to inform creative recommendations and ensure programs meet sector-specific compliance and standards.
- Trend Awareness: Stay current on art, design, and material trends to bring a fresh creative perspective into MDC Art projects.
- Collaboration & Documentation: Coordinate closely with internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
