The Role
M&G Life covers over 5 million customers with more than £300bn invested across all of its products and wrappers, and has an ambitious growth plan for 2025 and beyond. M&G Life operations work with a number of partners including Equiniti, Diligenta, Waystone, Paragon, Willis Towers Watson, as well as M&G Global Services supporting our in-house operation.
M&G Life is making material investments in its digital and data capabilities, to improve customer experience, streamline processes, improve controls and embed data in the way we operate.
We are ramping up a number of M&G Life programmes to drive material improvements in complex processes operating across the Life Insurance business, including distribution, operations and Finance, through reengineering and automating processes and better access to data.
You will be the bridge between what the business needs and what technology delivers. This is a hybrid role – part business analyst, part data specialist – where you will need to roll up your sleeves and analyse source systems directly, not just document what stakeholders tell you. You will translate complex data requirements into actionable specifications, challenge requirements that are unfeasible or technically costly, and ensure data definitions align consistently across business groups.
This role is about building permanent, in-house expertise and capabilities.

You’re confident constructively challenging where things don’t stack up from a data perspective, while maintaining strong, productive relationships. A natural bridge between business and technology teams, you communicate clearly and can translate complex ideas in both directions. With a pragmatic approach to problem solving, you balance ideal data solutions with real-world delivery constraints. Above all, you are highly collaborative, working seamlessly across data engineering teams, business SMEs and senior stakeholders to drive the right outcomes.
