Senior Software Engineer — Identity, Distributed Systems & AI Infrastructure
The Senior Software Engineer will help design and build core components across the Abaxx platform ecosystem — spanning ID++, MarketOS, Argus, and Agents++. This role requires strong distributed systems experience and the ability to contribute across backend infrastructure, identity systems, AI integrations, and real-time event-driven architectures. The ideal candidate is highly self-directed, execution-focused, and comfortable working across multiple layers of a modern platform stack in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable backend services in Golang, TypeScript, and Node.js/Bun, with accountability for reliability, performance, and long-term maintainability across the platforms you own.
- Build secure identity and authentication workflows using OAuth2, OIDC, DIDs, and Verifiable Credentials, with a strong understanding of the trust models and security implications underlying each.
- Develop APIs and distributed services supporting both decentralized and enterprise-grade workflows, designed for correctness, security, and scale from the outset.
- Contribute to AI-native infrastructure and LLM-integrated systems, including agent-based architectures and MCP-compatible platforms where AI systems operate alongside or within core product workflows.
- Build event-driven and real-time communication systems with attention to failure modes, message ordering, and system behavior under load.
- Participate actively in architecture and systems design discussions, bringing informed technical judgment to decisions that have long-term platform consequences.
- Own platform performance, reliability, and observability across your surface areas — instrumentation, monitoring, and incident response are part of the role, not someone else's responsibility.
- Contribute to internal engineering standards, code quality practices, and platform security, with the expectation that your work raises the baseline for the engineering organization broadly.
- Mentor junior engineers where needed, providing technical guidance and code review that accelerates their development without creating dependency.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong experience with:
- TypeScript
- Golang
- Node.js and/or Bun
- Experience building distributed backend systems and APIs
- Strong understanding of:
- OAuth2 / OIDC
- Authentication and authorization systems
- Secure API design
- Event-driven architectures
- Experience with PostgreSQL and modern data systems
- Familiarity with Docker and cloud deployment environments
- Ability to work independently in a fast-moving engineering organization
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications - Experience with any of the following is highly valuable:
- Decentralized identity (DID)
- Verifiable Credentials (VCs)
- Distributed Web Nodes (DWNs)
- WebSockets / real-time messaging systems
- AI/LLM integrations
- MCP or agent-based systems
- Cryptographic signing and key management
- AWS infrastructure and Terraform
- Kubernetes / container orchestration
- Financial infrastructure or regulated systems
- Electron or cross-platform desktop applications

Compensation
Base salary $180,000-$300,000 commensurate with experience and geographical location. Equity, bonus, and benefits.
