Overview

To lead and support all aspects of Quality, Food Safety, and Compliance within a chilled food manufacturing environment. The role ensures products meet legal, safety, and customer standards while driving a culture of continuous improvement and right-first-time quality across the site.

Duties

  • Check and report on all attributes of product quality both pre-harvest and post-harvest (shelf life).
  • Conduct thorough inspections and testing of products to ensure compliance with quality standards throughout the process (growing and packing) and communicate findings.
  • Assist growing staff in audit compliance with process checks (temp/PPM/gas/room) and report non-conformances.
  • Investigate complaints, root causes identification and recommended corrective actions.
  • Conduct and audit compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Observe and corrective coach production, growing and hygiene teams to address non-conformances promptly and effectively.
  • Assist on the implementation of HACCP protocols across relevant processes ensuring effective training and compliance.
  • Audit the irrigation, recycling process.
  • Conduct and report on GMP audits.
  • Conduct various audits, glass, hard plastic, equipment calibration etc.
  • Collect seed, product & water samples as required.
  • Record seed intake details to ensure full traceability.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of quality checks, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
  • Participate in internal audits in adherence to set schedule based on BRCGS standard.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the site QMS (logs, schedules etc.
  • Build capability through training on food safety, quality standards, and best practices.

Skills

  • Proven experience in quality assurance within a chilled manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret data accurately.
  • Knowledge of HACCP principles and their application in ensuring food safety.
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team under tight deadlines.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective reporting and collaboration.
  • Proficiency in using quality management software or related tools is desirable. This role offers an engaging environment for professionals committed to upholding high-quality standards, contributing to continuous improvement, and ensuring product safety across all stages of production.
  • Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related discipline

Full Time - Permanent

Pay: £33,000.00 - £36,000.00
