We are looking for a passionate, self-motivated, and relentlessly curious Working Student (M/F/D) to join the VMRay Labs team.

Your Responsibilities

  • Analyze real-world malware samples, including binary executables for Windows, Linux, and macOS, as well as scripts and other file types
  • Locate core functionality in binaries and re-implement logic in Python to decode/decrypt embedded malware configurations
  • Write detection signatures in YARA
  • Support the team in developing and maintaining internal tools and services

Our Requirements

  • Enrolled student (M/F/D) in the field of IT security, cybersecurity, or computer science
  • Foundational knowledge of binary analysis using tools such as IDA Pro, Binary Ninja, Ghidra, or similar
  • Programming skills in a high-level language, such as Python or Java
  • Foundational knowledge of assembly, mainly x86
  • Fast and proactive learner with a hands-on mindset
  • Analytical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills in German and English
  • High motivation and ability to work in a team as well as autonomously
