Description

A temporary Trade Mark Assistant role has become available in the Trade Mark Prosecution team of ENS’s IP and Innovation department for a special project.

Responsibilities:

Handling general administrative tasks on a day-to-day basis in support of principal and team, including, but not limited to:

  • Effective end-to-end prosecution and maintenance of South African trade marks
  • Attending to trade mark data capturing and verification on the Patricia database and management system
  • Ability to effectively draft correspondence and official forms
  • Maintaining an effective administration and filingsystem

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in the Patricia database and management system (essential)
  • Competent in computerpackages including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlookand Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to use initiative and be proactivein offering assistance and following up to ensure an efficiently run practice
  • Strong administrative skills, attention to detail and excellent typingskills
  • Strong writtenand speaking communication skills in English
  • Strong administration and organisational abilities
  • Sense of absolute confidentiality, urgency and abilityto work under pressure
  • Flexible and mature approachwith ability to work unsupervised
  • Trade mark secretarial experience at senior level is essential, including foreign and South African trade mark prosecution experience
  • Experience in data capturing and verification essential, with an eye for detail and accuracy

Qualifications:

  • Matric Certificate
  • Candidate should preferably have at least 5 years’experience in a trade mark department
  • Secretarial qualification/diploma or other relatedqualification is preferred
