We are seeking an experienced Safety & Compliance Advisor to partner with our operations teams and play a key role in maintaining compliance across our transport network. This is not a purely administrative compliance role.

You'll be actively working with operational leaders, drivers, regulators and stakeholders to ensure compliance obligations are met, risks are identified early, and practical solutions are implemented across the business.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Safety & Compliance Manager, you will provide expert advice, coaching and support across a broad range of safety and compliance activities.

You will be responsible for maintaining key accreditation schemes, supporting audits and investigations, monitoring compliance performance, and helping operational teams understand and meet their obligations under transport legislation and Chain of Responsibility requirements.

This role offers variety, autonomy and the opportunity to make a genuine impact across a national transport operation.

Position may be located from our Altona or Geelong Depot.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance accreditation schemes including NHVAS and HACCP requirements
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits
  • Investigate non-conformances and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Conduct work diary audits and compliance reviews
  • Support Chain of Responsibility (CoR) compliance activities across the business
  • Monitor vehicle and driver accreditation records
  • Develop and maintain compliance procedures, policies and systems
  • Prepare compliance reports, dashboards and performance metrics
  • Provide coaching, training and guidance to operational teams
  • Liaise with regulators, government agencies and external stakeholders
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and compliance projects

About You

You are a practical and solutions-focused compliance professional who enjoys building strong working relationships and partnering with operational teams.

You understand that effective compliance is achieved through education, collaboration and influence-not simply enforcing rules.

You will bring:

  • Experience within transport, logistics, safety or compliance environments (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of NHVR requirements and Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) (preferred)
  • Experience with NHVAS accreditation schemes including Mass, Maintenance and Fatigue Management (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Chain of Responsibility obligations
  • Strong investigation, reporting and analytical skills
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety / Diploma /bachelor’s degree in OHS or equivalent preferred
  • Transport industry experience highly regarded
  • Knowledge of WorkSafe and regulatory frameworks (preferred)
  • Experience working with NHVR frameworks highly regarded
