1. Overview & About HUXHUX Design Inc.

HUXHUX Design is a boutique creative agency specializing in full-service interior design, brand development, and strategic consultancy. Based in Tribeca, we lead projects from initial concept through final implementation, with a primary focus on the commercial sector alongside select residential projects.

We are looking for an extraordinary, motivated Design Intern to join our team. You will work directly with our designers and the Principal across all aspects of design for 7–10 active commercial interior projects. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role that requires self-discipline and confidence—but it’s also an incredibly fun, collaborative environment where you will gain real-world industry experience.

Schedule Requirements

2–3 days per week in our Tribeca studio. Core hours are 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM.

Project Exposure

Hands-on experience assisting with 7–10 commercial interior projects.

3. Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting & Modeling: Manage the organization of project drawings, update digital model files, and assist in producing physical scale models for studio work and presentations.
  • Documentation: Assist in producing design drawing sets for millwork, fabrication partners, and architectural consultants.
  • Sourcing & Design: Source, select, and organize interior finishes, furniture, fixtures, hardware, and accessories. Assist with the design of custom casework and furniture.
  • Project Coordination: Help coordinate with General Contractors (GCs) and millworkers; participate in job site visits for construction administration.
  • Studio Support: Assist with presentation coordination for clients/PR, and contribute to content creation for our marketing and social media channels.

4. Skills & ExperienceRequired Qualifications

  • Education: Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Interior Design or Architecture (ideally entering your Junior/Senior year or enrolled in a Master's program).
  • Technical Skills: Excellent command of AutoCAD, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) is required.
  • Design & Craft: Strong graphic talent and excellent physical model-making/craft skills.
  • Professional Attributes: Self-motivated team player, fluent in English (written and spoken), with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, complex studio environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Pluses)

  • Prior internship experience in an architecture or interior design firm.
  • Familiarity with NYC showrooms, vendors, and fabricators.
  • Experience or academic focus in the commercial design sector.
  • Familiarity with project quotes, budgets, and purchasing workflows.
