Change Manager – Tax Transformation Programme
Position Summary
Our client is undertaking a major tax transformation programme across multiple African countries to redesign and standardize tax service delivery, introduce enabling technologies, and establish a scalable operating model. The Change Manager will lead the development of the change strategy, change impact assessments, stakeholder engagement approach, communication framework, training strategy, and adoption readiness activities required to support successful implementation.
Role Purpose
- Develop and implement a comprehensive change management approach for a large-scale operating model transformation within the Tax function.
- Provide change insights and recommendations that can be integrated into the broader programme implementation plan.
- Enable stakeholder alignment, organisational readiness, training adoption, and sustainable business change.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop the overall change management strategy and supporting roadmap.
- Conduct research, analysis, and organisational assessments to inform change interventions.
- Identify stakeholder groups and assess the impact of change across affected populations.
- Develop communication and engagement plans to support the programme lifecycle.
- Design and recommend training and enablement approaches to support adoption.
- Perform business impact and readiness assessments and establish success measures.
- Define frameworks for adoption tracking, benefits realisation, and change sustainability.
- Facilitate alignment across service lines and support consistent change delivery.
Programme Scope
- Primary function impacted: Tax.
- Includes Global and Domestic Tax Services.
- Support operating model redesign, process standardisation, team restructuring, technology adoption, and AI enablement initiatives.
Geographic Coverage
- South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania, Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Malawi, and Namibia.
- Hybrid and predominantly remote programme environment.
Required Experience
- Proven experience leading large-scale operating model transformation programmes.
- Experience within shared services, delivery centre, or business transformation environments.
- Strong organisational design and HR change management capability, including role mapping and consultation processes.
- Experience delivering technology-enabled transformation initiatives.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple countries, cultures, and stakeholder groups.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and executive stakeholder management skills.
- Experience designing and executing communication, engagement, and adoption programmes.
- Ability to challenge stakeholders constructively and drive accountability for change outcomes.
