Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic, business-minded Director/Senior Director – Marketing Operations to advise enterprise clients on how to transform, structure, and scale their marketing operations function. This is a consulting and advisory role, Advisory role with a sound technical understanding of martech platforms. The focus is on strategy, operating models, organizational design, and value creation, helping senior client stakeholders make the right decisions about how their marketing operations should evolve in the age of AI.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional who has seen the full breadth and depth of marketing operations across different industry verticals over a long career and can bring a strong, authoritative point of view to the table. They understand the martech and services landscape well enough to guide strategic decisions, but their value lies in strategic thinking, advisory credibility, and influencing business outcome.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a senior strategic advisor to C-level and senior client stakeholders on the future direction of their marketing operations function.
- Lead maturity assessments to evaluate where a client stands today and define a clear, prioritized vision for where they should go.
- Design marketing operations operating models covering organizational structure, roles, governance, processes, and ways of working.
- Develop transformation roadmaps that align marketing operations capabilities to broader business and marketing objectives.
- Build compelling business cases that justify investment, quantify value, and secure executive buy-in.
- Advise on the right capability and service models, in-house teams, centers of excellence, managed services, or hybrid approaches.
- Provide an informed perspective on the martech landscape helping clients understand options, trade-offs, and strategic fit (without owning technical implementation).
- Facilitate executive workshops and discussions to align stakeholders and drive consensus.
- Create high-quality strategic deliverables frameworks, recommendations, target operating models, and roadmaps.
- Contribute to thought leadership and practice growth, including shaping proposals, scoping, and client pitches.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 15+ years of experience in marketing operations, with significant time spent in consulting, advisory, or strategy capacity serving enterprise-level clients.
- Strong conceptual understanding of the modern martech services ecosystem, enough to advise on strategy, fit, and direction.
- A proven track record of diagnosing complex challenges, framing strategic options, and recommending a clear path forward for large enterprise clients.
- Extensive experience leading strategic engagements end-to-end, from problem definition through to executive-ready recommendations.

- Comfortable operating at the intersection of business strategy, marketing, and operations.
- Background at a management consulting firm, strategy practice, or advisory arm of a marketing/martech services provider.
- Experience helping clients design or stand up a Marketing Operations Center of Excellence (CoE).
- Familiarity with emerging trends shaping marketing operations strategy (e.g., AI in marketing, data-driven marketing, evolving operating models).
- Exposure to multiple industries gives a broad perspective on what works across contexts.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 3–6 months, this individual will have established themselves as a trusted senior advisor across enterprise accounts, delivered high-impact assessments, transformation ideas, and own the transformation roadmaps, and contributed to growing the marketing operations advisory practice through both delivery excellence and business development.
