The Actuarial Practice at Oliver Wyman (OWA) provides high-end actuarial advisory services covering a broad range of insurance and actuarial topics including insurance M&A, reinsurance, financial risk modelling, and regulatory advice.

Who are we looking for?

We are currently expanding our team and looking for (Senior) Managers to join our Benelux team. This role involves collaboration with the actuarial teams across Europe, as well as our wider management consulting teams, to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions for our clients.

Just as every client project is different, we recognize and value the diversity of backgrounds and skill sets for successful candidates. We are seeking high-caliber individuals who want to join our team. Preference will be given to candidates with the following profile:

Experience

5-10 years of experience in a relative field as a consultant or member of an actuarial, finance or risk management team in an insurance company

Study

Master’s degree in a quantitative study (for example actuarial science, econometrics, mathematics, physics). Another qualification like AAG or FRM is a plus

Way of thinking and working

Independent, proactive, solution-driven, communicatively strong, thinking from the client's point of view, translating quantitative and qualitative findings into strategy and actions through reports or presentations

Programming skills

Experience with Python, R, Excel/VBA, C++ or any other programming language is a plus

Expertise

Executive: Project- and expectation management, timely see connecting links and the follow-up steps, excellent communication both within the team and with the client, pro-active and taking a leading role in stakeholder management. You bring your own network in the insurance sector with business development potential.

Expertise: Knowledge and acknowledged experience in the field of insurance, financial risks, actuarial topics, and consulting. Deep expertise in Solvency II, IFRS 4 and IFRS17. Strong in translating problems into actions and advice, with mature documentation and presentation skills. Ability to serve as Subject Matter Expert for one or more actuarial topics.

Language

Outstanding verbal and written communication in English and Flemish/Dutch. French is a plus

As a new (Senior) Manager in the Benelux team, you will work alongside, and learn from, Oliver Wyman’s industry leaders and other experienced consultants while contributing to a broad range of client projects. You will gain industry exposure with Oliver Wyman’s clients, which include top tier insurance companies, reinsurance companies, investment banks, regulators, private equity firms and many more. You will also have the chance to take the initiative on new and emerging ideas, leveraging the wider Oliver Wyman and Marsh McLennan organizations.

In the (Senior) Manager role, you will:

  • Help further grow the actuarial service practice.
  • Get in contact with multiple multinationals and expend/build your Dutch and international network.
  • Lead a diversity of complex projects or workstreams related to strategic, quantitative, risk management, data science and actuarial questions.
  • Work with a multitude of clients in the Netherlands, Belgium and other European countries, further building up your (international) network.
  • Define your own learning path, OWA offers and supports structured learning opportunities (like FRM or becoming an Actuary) and in-house competency training.
  • Work in a flexible environment, where we combine working from our office, the client's office and from home.
