About the project:

Our client is looking for support with data platform built on Google BigQuery. The stack includes dbt for data transformations, Python on GCP (Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Workflows) for ingestion and orchestration, and Cloud Build for CI/CD across development and production environments. The codebase is in good shape and follows established conventions. We are looking for someone who can quickly get up to speed with the existing architecture and contribute to ongoing platform development and maintenance.

Engagement: Initially full-time employment during 2 months. As the platform matures, the workload is expected to decrease to approximately 0.2–0.4 FTE for ongoing support and enhancements.

What you will do:

• Design, develop, and maintain data models in dbt, including refactoring and optimization of existing models.
• Work on participant identity management and PII handling, ensuring data quality and compliance.
• Investigate and resolve data correctness issues across the platform.
• Improve pipeline performance and contribute to GCP infrastructure enhancements.
• Support and improve CI/CD processes, testing frameworks, and developer experience.
• Ingest and model new research datasets in BigQuery, expanding the existing data platform and supporting future analytical needs.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure reliable, scalable, and maintainable data solutions.

What you bring:

• 3+ years of strong hands-on experience with dbt and BigQuery/SQL.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing and dimensional modeling principles.
• Experience building and maintaining incremental models, data quality tests, and transformation pipelines.
• Strong Python skills for data engineering and automation tasks.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, including Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Workflows, IAM, and related services.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and infrastructure automation.
• Ability to work independently within an existing codebase and quickly adapt to established engineering conventions.
• Upper-intermediate English level.

Would be nice if you have:

• Experience with research, survey, or participant-related datasets.
• Background in data platform performance optimization and cost-efficient cloud architecture.
• Experience working in environments with strong data governance and privacy requirements.
