Educational Video Writer

Salary Rage: $110k-120k

About Us

We’re a stealth‑mode ed‑tech company on a mission to change how learning happens. Our small, tight‑knit team is growing, and we’re looking for a sharp, motivated Learning Designer to help write and shape short‑form educational videos—someone who can turn a learning objective into something kids actually want to watch.

About the Role

You'll take a standard or topic and shape it into a production-ready script and storyboard. This is a writing job at its core, one that blends educational instincts with visual storytelling and a comfort working in a fast-moving content pipeline. Remote-friendly, with a preference for candidates in the Los Angeles area.

What You Will Do

Writing & Content Design

  • Translate a standard or learning objective into an engaging, age-appropriate video concept for K–5 learners — leading with a hook and a sense of wonder, not a Wikipedia summary.
  • Use tools to draft short-form educational scripts, then apply editorial judgment to shape and refine the output to tight constraints — word count, reading level, and runtime — so a young learner can follow.
  • Develop comprehension and recall questions that reinforce the learning objective.
  • Produce clear scene and character descriptions that give the production pipeline everything it needs to render the video as intended.

Visual & Video Sense

  • Visualize how a script will come together on screen — anticipating what will and won’t render well before it reaches production.
  • Apply strong visual storytelling instincts so every scene is concrete, vivid, and renderable.

Process & Collaboration

  • Work consistently and accurately within established templates and content pipelines, keeping output production-ready for handoff.
  • Incorporate feedback quickly and iterate through structured review cycles, helping drive down revision churn — our biggest throughput bottleneck.
  • Maintain awareness of copyright, trademark, and IP considerations when creating media content, and flag sensitive-topic concerns for review.

What We Are Looking For

Experience writing short-form educational content, ideally for young learners. Strong visual storytelling instincts. Comfort working within templates and structured formats, including AI content tools. Someone detail-oriented who thrives in an early-stage environment where some of the playbook is still being written.
