Description

We are looking for an experienced “R&D Design Manager” to lead product development activities, manage multidisciplinary engineering teams, and drive innovation across our growing product portfolio.

Reporting directly to the R&D Director, this position will play a key role in shaping the company's technology roadmap, leading new product development projects, and ensuring the successful industrialization of innovative electromechanical products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechatronics Engineering; a Master's degree or Ph.D. is considered an advantage.
  • Fluent in English
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical, electromechanical, or mechanical product design and development, with at least 5 years in engineering team leadership, technical leadership, and product development project management roles.
  • Experience in building, developing, and leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: electromagnetic design, mechanical design, thermal analysis, manufacturing technologies, or product development methodologies.
  • Experience with R&D processes, product lifecycle management (PLM), engineering development methodologies, and structured product development processes including FMEA, DFMEA, and APQP.
  • Experience in CAD, engineering analysis, and electromagnetic simulation tools such as Ansys Maxwell, Motor-CAD, Flux, or similar software.
  • Good understanding of electrical machines, industrial electric motor technologies, rotor-stator design, performance optimization, and induction motor design is preffered.
  • Experience in IE3, IE4, IE5 efficiency-class motor development projects, medium-voltage motor projects, and high-efficiency motor technologies such as synchronous reluctance motors is preferred.
  • Good understanding of IEC, EN, and other relevant international engineering standards.
  • Experience in TÜBİTAK-funded or international R&D projects is an advantage.
  • Experience in patent applications, utility models, or intellectual property activities.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strategic and analytical mindset with a results-oriented, innovative, and continuous improvement approach.

Job Description and responsibilities

  • Lead new product development projects from concept definition through industrialization and serial production, ensuring alignment with business objectives, customer requirements, and emerging technologies.
  • Manage electromagnetic, electrical, mechanical, and thermal design activities while driving continuous improvement in performance, efficiency, reliability, manufacturability, and cost optimization.
  • Monitor advancements in electric motor technologies and related engineering fields, evaluate new technologies, support intellectual property activities,
  • Define and execute the technology roadmap for electric motors and related electromechanical products in alignment with the company's long-term growth strategy.
  • Conduct competitor analysis, benchmarking studies, technology assessments, design verification, prototype development, laboratory testing, and product validation activities.
  • Manage project scope, timelines, budgets, quality targets, KPIs, and engineering resources while reporting progress to senior management.
  • Coordinate collaborative projects with universities, research institutes, TÜBİTAK, and other technology partners.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary R&D engineering team by promoting engineering best practices, design standards, technical competency growth, and a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international engineering standards and regulations throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Coordinate the successful transfer of new products into manufacturing in close collaboration with production, quality, procurement, and supply chain teams.
  • Lead DFM (Design for Manufacturing), FMEA, risk assessment, root-cause analysis, and technical problem-solving activities while supporting productivity improvement, cost reduction, and localization initiatives.
