The Buyer for Seating will support Automotive Seat Module buying in North America and Globally, with an annual value of business of ~$200M.

Responsibilities

The core responsibilities of this position are the development, ownership, and execution of full lifecycle commodity strategies which include but are not limited to:

  • Support the global commodity team for the Seat JIT commodity coordinating global sourcing’s, synergy acceleration, benchmarking and commodity strategy development and execution
  • Coordinate and manage key supplier open issues, lead and execute business plan, and serve as escalation point to drive issue closure
  • Manage complex supply issues ranging from capacity to just in time delivery and regular release fluctuations
  • Sourcing activities supporting the Seat JIT commodities including:
  • Supplier negotiations
  • Sourcing on time and to target
  • Driving annual cost savings activities
  • Managing and identifying cost savings activities including Value Creation Program, Value Optimization and Gap to Should Cost
  • Lead the resolution and negotiation of commercial issues

The selected candidate will interact with many cross-functional teams such as engineering, supply chain management, supplier quality and finance.

This position affords the opportunity for career development within the Purchasing organization and with other cross-functional groups. The ideal candidate will strive to continuously improve purchasing processes and more specifically module sourcing and cost management.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical), Business, Finance, Economics, or closely related field from an ABET accredited university
  • Minimum of 3 years of purchasing or closely related relevant experience
  • Global commodity experience: participating in global sourcing activities and working in global teams
  • Strong communication skills and are highly customer focused
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams
  • Strong fluency with MS Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree; MBA or Engineering (ME/EE)
  • Demonstrated experience to support more challenging decks which would reflect in more advanced Purchasing Buyer levels including JIT or MPAB experience
  • Previous automotive related and/or global commodity experience
  • Strong interest in the automotive industry
  • Experience working with SAP
  • CPSM Certification
  • Familiarity with cross functional (Finance, Engineering, SCM, Capacity) processes
