Salary from: Stream A Level 4 ($85k) + superannuation

A 5% increase to the salary range will apply from 1 July 2026 in accordance with Councils Certified Agreement)

We have an exciting opportunity for a maximum term, full time Management Accountant to join the Finance Branch within the Council. Note: This is a 9-month maximum term position.

The Management Accountant supports budgeting, financial reporting, and costing to help meet organisational needs, ensuring accurate data and compliance with standards. The role provides clear financial insights, supports stakeholders, and improves systems and processes, requiring strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel and our financial systems.

Position responsibilities include:

  • Support budgeting with analysis, reports, and data tools
  • Review budget changes and financial impacts
  • Prepare and distribute financial reports to stakeholders
  • Help teams understand results and ensure data accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with policies, standards, and controls
  • Respond to accounting queries and provide training
  • Improve and maintain financial systems and processes
  • Follow and promote health, safety, and wellbeing practices
  • Perform additional duties within skills and capability

Key indicators for success:

  • Relevant business/accounting qualification or practical experience (CPA/CA desirable)
  • Experience explaining technical costing and accounting concepts
  • Ability to develop solutions and provide financial recommendations
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills
  • Clear communication skills, able to simplify complex information
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, especially Excel and financial systems
