Cappy Army is looking for a freelance writer who can turn military, intelligence, and geopolitical topics into compelling stories for a large YouTube audience.
This is a mix of academic writing and news writing.
We're looking for someone who can take complicated subjects and explain them in a way that makes viewers want to watch until the very end.
What You'll Do
- Write long-form YouTube scripts (1,800–4,000 words)
- Research military, intelligence, weapons, and geopolitical topics
- Find unique information from OSINT sources, white papers, government reports, think tanks, and primary sources
- Turn complex topics into clear, entertaining narratives
- Build tension, stakes, and curiosity throughout a script
- Explain military concepts to viewers with no military background
What We're Looking For
- Strong storyteller first, researcher second
- Excellent writer with a clear, conversational style
- does not use chatgpt to generate scripts.
- Ability to find information beyond the first page of Google
- Familiarity with military history, defense technology, intelligence agencies, geopolitics, or modern warfare
- Ability to answer the questions a viewer is naturally asking as the story unfolds
- Understanding of YouTube audience retention and viewer psychology is a major plus

Subject Line: Freelance Writer
Please include:
- A writing sample of approximately 1,800 words or longer
- OR a new sample on a topic that would fit the Cappy Army channel
- A brief explanation of your research process and sources
What Makes an Application Stand Out
A great sample creates questions, builds suspense, delivers satisfying answers, and makes a complicated topic feel easy to understand.
If your writing reads like a documentary script rather than a school essay, we want to see it.
