Grindrod is looking for a SHEQ Supervisor to co-ordinate and lead implementation and maintenance of effective SHEQ management systems to meet the OHS Act, ISO legal frameworks and municipal regulatory requirements.
- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Co-ordinate SHEQ mandatory training and induction training for all new employees, contractors and visitors to ensure compliance as per internal & legislated requirements.
- Facilitate the maintenance, continual improvement and awareness of all relevant company risk assessments and Safe Working Procedures.
- . Ensure that all employees and contractors have valid medicals, inductions and co-ordinate renewals thereof.
- Assist with incident and accident investigation to determine the root cause, recommend corrective action and ensure correct records are completed, submitted and retained.
- Following up with COID claims from the relevant people.
- Co-ordinate Occupational Hygiene surveys, ISO Audits, Insurance & Client Audits as directed by the SHERQ Manager. All deviations to be reported.
- Record and verify weekly SHEQ statistics, Monthly Sustainability data and Quarterly reports.
- Ensure effective SHEQ awareness and promotion of campaigns and safety culture programs ensuring they are implemented and actively carried out on the ground.
- Hands on approach, actively collaborating, communicating, coaching and mentoring on the ground with staff and contactors. To ensure that all safety expectations are understood and met.
- Carrying out daily inspections.
- Ensure effective Contractor management in terms of Construction Regulations and OHS act.
- Support with effective SHEQ systems, the business, operational and administrative units. Provide direction, support and resources.
- Keep all departments fully advised of all relevant SHEQ, compliance and regulatory matters.
- Plan and participate in the SHE committee meetings.
- Implement measures and actions to ensure compliance is achieved.
- Supply input into toolbox talks content development.
- Provide guidance or support to employees on SHE related matters.
- Attend to IOD matters and be available for call outs if required.
Qualification/s
- Grade 12
- SAMTRAC
- Environmental management Diploma/BSc or National Diploma Safety Management
- Valid driver’s license
- MS office package-intermediate(preferred)
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience
- Understanding of the NEMA act
- Hazard Identification Risk Assessments (HIRA), and accident investigation training
- ISO 9001,14001 and 45001 working knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of the OHS Act 85 of 1993 and its regulations.
- Knowledge in compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases act of 1993
- Knowledge of scheduled trade permit, Air Emissions license and Water Use License will be an added advantage.
- Stevedores and port operations of vessel loading/offloading exposure will be an added advantage.
