Job Context

The Compliance and Risk Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring governance, compliance, risk management, and operational assurance frameworks across the Group. The role works closely with operational teams, management, consultants, and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, food safety programmes, health and safety obligations, and ESG initiatives.

The position serves as a key link between Group functions and operational business units, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.

Key Performance Areas (KPA)

Operational Procedures, Compliance and Risk Management

  • Lead the development, review, standardisation, and implementation of operational procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all business units.
  • Establish and maintain a structured document control framework for operational procedures.
  • Conduct periodic compliance reviews, audits, and assessments to evaluate adherence to approved SOPs and policies.
  • Identify operational risks, compliance gaps, and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop corrective action plans and monitor implementation of agreed actions.
  • Prepare compliance and risk reports for management and executive review.
  • Promote a culture of operational discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Food Safety Management

  • Act as the Group’s coordinator and champion for all food safety programmes and initiatives.
  • Manage relationships with appointed food safety consultants, auditors, certification bodies, and regulatory authorities.
  • Coordinate the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of food safety management systems.
  • Monitor compliance with food safety standards, certifications, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Participate in food safety management reviews and steering committees.
  • Ensure corrective actions arising from audits are effectively implemented and closed.

Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Support

  • Assist management in monitoring compliance with relevant HSE legislation and company standards.
  • Participate in workplace inspections, audits, and incident review processes where required.
  • Monitor HSE performance metrics and assist in reporting to management.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen safety culture and improve compliance.

Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Coordination

  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of Group ESG initiatives and programmes.
  • Act as liaison between business units and Group ESG stakeholders.
  • Support the collection, verification, and reporting of ESG-related information and performance metrics.
  • Assist with sustainability reporting requirements and stakeholder requests.
  • Coordinate ESG projects and ensure alignment between operational activities and Group ESG objectives.
  • Monitor emerging ESG requirements, trends, and best practices relevant to the business.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management, Quality Management, Business Management, Operations Management, Compliance, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications in compliance, risk management, food safety, quality management, auditing, or HSE will be advantageous.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in compliance, risk management, quality assurance, food safety, operational governance, or a related field.
  • Experience working within logistics, warehousing, cold chain, manufacturing, distribution, or operational environments.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating audits, certification programmes, and compliance initiatives.
  • Experience engaging with operational teams across multiple sites will be advantageous
