Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Life Insurance Claims Specialist to support a high-performing claims team managing complex group insurance claims portfolios.
This is a hands-on role responsible for the end-to-end management of Income Protection and Total & Permanent Disability (TPD) claims, with potential exposure to Death and Trauma claims. The successful candidate will bring strong technical claims expertise, excellent case management capability, and experience working within regulated insurance environments.
Candidates must have Life Insurance and/or Group Insurance claims experience, particularly across Income Protection and TPD claims. General Insurance claims experience alone will not be sufficient for this role.

Responsibilities
- Manage an end-to-end portfolio of Income Protection and TPD claims.
- Assess claims in line with policy terms, regulatory requirements, and internal frameworks.
- Apply proactive case management strategies to support claimant recovery and return-to-work outcomes.
- Engage with claimants, employers, medical practitioners, rehabilitation providers, and legal representatives.
- Conduct investigations, review medical evidence, and make sound claim determinations.
- Manage a high-volume portfolio of complex claims while maintaining service standards.
- Prepare detailed claims assessments, recommendations, and correspondence.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulatory and governance requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across claims management processes.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience managing Life Insurance or Group Insurance claims.
- Strong technical expertise in Income Protection / Salary Continuance claims.
- Demonstrated experience assessing and managing TPD claims.
- Experience managing claims end-to-end from lodgement through to determination and closure.
- Strong case management capability with a focus on recovery and return-to-work outcomes.
- Experience managing complex and high-volume claim portfolios (approximately 50 active claims).
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
- Experience working within highly regulated insurance environments.

- Experience with Death and Trauma claims.
- Experience within large life insurers, superannuation funds, or group insurance providers.
- Knowledge of relevant life insurance legislation, industry standards, and regulatory frameworks.
