George Fisher Mine (GFM) is a large-scale underground zinc-lead-silver operation based in Mt Isa, QLD. GFM has complex mining sequence, multiple operating fronts, and significant interactions among development, stoping, ventilation, backfill, infrastructure, services, and production readiness.
George Fisher has a long mine life and is a key strategic asset for Glencore globally.
The role:
This is one of those rare Brisbane based positions supporting a large-scale underground mining operation.
The Principal Mining Engineer is responsible for providing advanced technical leadership and specialist mine-planning support across the long- and medium-term planning horizons. The role exists to deliver robust, integrated and value-adding mine plans that support production strategy, asset optimisation, operational readiness and delivery confidence.
This role provides senior technical expertise in mine scheduling, sequence development, constraint management, scenario analysis, schedule logic and planning governance.
The role is suited to a highly capable planning engineer who combines strong technical depth, strategic thinking, practical operational understanding and a commitment to improving both planning quality and team capability.
