We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Developer (with knowledge in MongoDB) to join a long-term project focused on modernizing an enterprise platform used by financial institutions worldwide.
You will help build scalable microservices and event-driven solutions using Java, Kafka, MongoDB, and Kubernetes, while contributing to the migration of legacy systems to a modern cloud-native architecture.
This is a full-time remote role (40 hours/week) with a long-term duration.
Important: You must be based in EMEA to be considered for this position.
🚀 Main responsibilities
- Develop, test, and improve backend services built on a scalable microservice architecture.
- Contribute to the modernization and migration of legacy systems.
- Design and develop REST APIs and event-driven solutions using Kafka.
- Build high-quality, scalable, and performant backend components.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design decisions.
- Support deployment, monitoring, and optimization of applications in production.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
🧩 Requirements
- 7+ years of experience with Java backend development.
- 7+ years of experience with backend frameworks such as Spring Boot, Quarkus, or similar.
- Experience working with microservice architectures.
- Good understanding of REST APIs and event-driven systems and architecture.
- Familiarity with Kafka.
- Experience with Kubernetes is highly recommended.
- Experience with MongoDB.
- Interest in clean architecture, functional programming, cloud-native development, and sustainable software engineering.
- Fluent English communication skills.
- Ability to work within CET time zone.
