Job Context:

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations, strengthening financial controls, and providing strategic financial support to the business. The role requires a strong leader capable of driving financial performance, managing risk, and supporting business growth within a dynamic and multicultural environment.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Lead and manage the Finance Department, ensuring efficient allocation of work and achievement of departmental objectives.
  • Contribute to the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets and monitor financial performance against approved plans.
  • Provide financial oversight and support on revenue recognition processes.
  • Manage accounting matters relating to third-party contractor payments, including budgeting, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and International Accounting Standards (IAS).
  • Oversee the month-end close process and ensure accurate and timely submission of financial reports, including Trial Balance (TB) and ageing reports.
  • Drive the effective operation of creditor payment functions and cash management processes.
  • Support the implementation, testing, training, and continuous improvement of financial systems.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial information to management for decision-making purposes.
  • Strengthen and maintain effective internal controls and governance processes.
  • Identify training and development needs within the finance team and facilitate relevant learning initiatives.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal stakeholders, government authorities, suppliers, and service providers.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, or ONEC RDC or ACCA certification in Finance
  • Membership with a recognised professional accounting body will be advantageous.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior finance leadership position.
  • Proven experience managing finance and accounting functions within a medium to large organisation.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, taxation, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience conducting technical accounting research and applying accounting standards.
  • Strong knowledge of tax regulations and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or similar financial management systems.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to provide strategic financial insight.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and fast-paced environment.
